If green is your colour, an emerald engagement ring is hard to beat. That rich, deep colour has been prized for thousands of years, and it still turns heads today. There's something about emerald that feels luxurious, romantic, and just a bit unexpected.
Emerald engagement rings are for people who want something with real character. Maybe you've never been drawn to diamonds. Maybe you love colour and want your ring to reflect that. Or maybe you just fell in love with that green the first time you saw it. Whatever brought you here, emerald is a beautiful choice.
At AG & Sons, we carry a range of emerald engagement rings in the UK. From natural emerald engagement rings with classic settings to emerald and diamond engagement rings that combine colour with sparkle, there's plenty to choose from. We also offer vintage emerald engagement rings for those who love old-world romance, and modern emerald engagement rings for a cleaner, more contemporary look.
If you want to buy emerald engagement rings from a trusted jeweller, you're in the right place. We've been helping customers find the right ring for years, and we only work with stones we're proud to sell.

An emerald engagement ring features an emerald as the centre stone. Emerald is a variety of beryl, the same mineral family as aquamarine. Its green colour comes from trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium. The best emeralds have a rich, saturated green that's instantly recognisable.
Most emeralds have natural inclusions, sometimes called "jardin" (French for garden). These are part of what makes each stone unique. A completely flawless emerald is extremely rare and would cost a fortune. The inclusions in a good quality stone don't detract from its beauty. They're part of its character.
Emerald has been associated with love, rebirth, and hope for centuries. Cleopatra famously loved emeralds. In ancient Rome, people linked emerald to Venus, the goddess of love. That connection to romance has never really gone away.
It's also the birthstone for May, making an emerald engagement ring extra meaningful for anyone born in that month.
For couples, an emerald engagement ring can symbolise growth, new beginnings, and a love that stays fresh over time. There's real depth to the meaning behind this stone.
Picking the right emerald ring comes down to a few things:
Colour: This matters most. The best emeralds have a rich, vibrant green. Too pale and it loses impact. Too dark and it can look dull. Go with a shade that catches your eye and holds it.
Clarity: Most emeralds have inclusions. That's normal and expected. What you want to avoid is anything that makes the stone look cloudy or affects how light moves through it. A few inclusions are fine. They give the stone character.
Cut and shape: We carry different shapes including oval emerald engagement rings, cushion cut emerald engagement rings, and emerald cut emerald engagement rings. The emerald cut (rectangular with stepped facets) is classic for a reason. It shows off the stone's colour beautifully. But other shapes work just as well depending on your taste.
Setting: Emeralds are softer than diamonds, so the setting matters. A bezel setting protects the edges well. Halo settings add sparkle and offer some protection too. Solitaires look beautiful but leave the stone more exposed. Think about your lifestyle when you choose.
Metal: Emeralds look stunning in any metal. Yellow gold feels warm and traditional. White gold and platinum let the green really stand out. Rose gold takes it in a warmer, more romantic direction.

Yes, with care. Emerald is 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs hardness scale. It's softer than diamond or sapphire, so a protective setting helps. Treat it well and it will last.
Emerald has long been linked to love, renewal, and hope. It's the birthstone for May, so it carries extra meaning if that's your month. For couples, it often represents a love that grows and keeps getting stronger over time.
How do I choose an emerald engagement ring?
Look at the colour first. A rich, saturated green is what you want. Then think about the shape, setting, and metal. Consider your lifestyle too. If you're hard on jewellery, choose a setting that protects the stone.
Emerald vs Diamond: Which Is Better?
It depends on what you want. Diamonds are harder and more traditional. Emeralds have colour and character. They get noticed. If that appeals to you, trust your instinct.

Hope to do business again sometime.
Best regards
I love my bridal set and can't wait to wear it on my wedding day - 20th june 2014
Many thanks
I was delighted when they arrived, exactly as I had hoped, beautiful finish, very sparkly. I love the screw back, although fiddly, it means they are secure.
I haven't taken them off since, and I am secretly hoping my husband purchases the yellow gold version for my upcoming birthday - I have hinted several times!
The only negative comment I have is regarding the matching pendant my husband purchased for me at christmas, it is the same size as the ear-ring, which maybe we should have expected, but as a pendant it is too small. Inhindsight I should have returned it at the time, but I didn't want to hurt his feelings.
Despite that I would definitely purchase items with you again, and I am delighted with my ear-rings.
I was not able to take delivery yesterday but I picked my order up today. They are beautiful, I'm very pleased with them and I'm sure my wife will be.
It was a pleasure to do business with you.
Thank you,best wishes
